Mrs. Ruth Pittman Garmon, age 92 of Tyrone, Georgia, formerly of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2020.  She was born June 29, 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Willie Pittman and the late Lucille Chapel Pittman. 

At the age of eight, she set her cap for the newspaper boy, who was twelve years old at the time.  Later, at the age of seventeen, they were married, as he was about to leave for Germany, where he served during World War II.  Mrs. Garmon attended Joe Brown High School.  She retired from C & S National Bank in Atlanta, having worked for twenty-five years as a Payroll Accountant. Following retirement, she also worked as an Accountant with the Carroll County Sales Barn for twenty years.  She was a member of Roopville Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Robert Field Garmon, Jr.; sister, Frances Embree; and brother, Robert Pittman. 

Survivors include her children:  Karen (Mike) Mello of Tyrone, Georgia, Joy (Dennis) Gould of Douglasville, Georgia, and Robert Alan Garmon of Franklin, Georgia; grandchildren:  Tyra (Steven) Ingle, Kelly (Tommy) Akers, Jimi (Josh) Gaddy,  Jess (Emily) Gould, Richard (Hong) Gould, Nicholas Gould, Aaron (Daniel) Reyes, Anuradha Chandran, Robert Garmon, and Kimberly (Junior) Clements; and a number of great grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 2:30 PM from Community Bible Church Cemetery with Rev. Fred Cooke officiating.
