Clarence Sheppard, age 88 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on July 1, 2020. He was born July 22, 1931 in DeKalb County, Georgia, the son of the late Robert M. Sheppard and the late Ezzie Dennard Sheppard.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired Vice President in banking, having worked forty years with Trust Company Bank and SunTrust Bank. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newnan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Carroll Sheppard, who also passed away on July 1st in 2017. Also, preceding him in death were two sisters: Lucille Ellington and Dorothy Thorne and two brothers: Ezra “Buddy” Sheppard and Lennon Sheppard.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Pam & Bill Nida of Carrollton; sons and daughters-in-law: Mike Sheppard of Katy, Texas, Chuck & Danna Sheppard of Palmetto, Georgia, and Jeff & Carol Sheppard of Ft. Payne, Alabama; twenty-four grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 3, 2020 at 12:00 Noon from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Patterson officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Southview Cemetery in Moreland with Min. Lee Chitwood presiding.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Randy Sheppard, Andy Sheppard, Grady Fleming, Bryan Vernon, Sandy Stephens, and Dustin Carroll. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon.
