Florence Gloria Stone, age 88, of Acworth passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021. She was born in Madison, Ohio on December 28, 1932 to the late Walter Sironen and Angeline Kroflic Sironen.

Florence was the second of six children. She was a graduate of Hixson School of Floral Design in Cleveland and worked in several florist as a designer in Lake County. She married Elverton Stone on April 7, 1956 in Madison, Ohio. In her home church she taught Sunday School and was active in church work, especially missions. She always felt a need for the widows and she started a Widow’s program there. Florence enjoyed volunteering and was active at the Cleveland City Missions and the Inner City program for children. After her retirement they moved to Texas for the winter and she volunteered in a Mexican Head Start School. They lived in Florida for thirteen years and she also organized a Widow’s program there. Florence was also active in sewing groups making lap robes for local nursing homes and Veteran’s hospitals and for several years she volunteered delivering meals for shut-ins. After she moved to Villa Rica with her husband Elverton they became members of Ephesus Baptist Church. Her hobbies were traveling and she especially loved cruises. She loved growing orchids and she enjoyed art, she made many pictures using the paper tole art. She loved reading her Bible every day. Florence always enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will truly be missed.

She is survived by two children, Kenneth Edward Stone of Douglasville, Georgia, Beverly Lynn Stone of Ellicott, Maryland; three grandchildren, Christine Grant, Steven Grant, both of Maryland, and Lauren Johnson of Dallas, Georgia; great granddaughter, Sarah Stone and great grandson, Draven Johnson; brother, Joseph Sironen of Madison; sisters, Frances Zirkle of Willoughby, Shirley Conley of California.

In addition to her parents Florence was also preceded in death by her husband, Elverton Stone; brothers Karl Sironen and Thomas Sironen.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Hightower’s with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating.

Interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at a later date.
