Travel back in time and around the city as Yacht Rock Schooner brings the music of the 1970s and the Carrollton Half Marathon welcomes hundreds of runners to downtown Carrollton next weekend.
The Yacht Rock Schooner sails into the Amp at Adamson Square, September 24 at 8:00 p.m. The eight-member band specializes in the smooth sounds of the late ’70s and early ’80s and is comprised of some of Atlanta’s top players. The group plays retro hits by classic artists like Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald. The Amp’s 2021 Concert Series is sponsored by Scott Evans Automotive. Chairs can be set up on the day of the event. No outside professional photography, videography, broadcast or recording is permitted.
The second Carrollton Half Marathon will take place on September 25. A 2020 follow-up to the hugely successful inaugural event in 2019 was canceled due to the pandemic. The Half Marathon’s 13.1-mile course starts at 7:15 a.m. on Adamson Square, then takes runners through the city and along the shaded, rolling hills of the GreenBelt. Runners will enjoy music and food at the Amp after crossing the finish line back at Adamson Square. The race will be held rain or shine. Race hosts are West Georgia Track Club and the City of Carrolton. The presenting sponsor for the 2021 Carrollton Half Marathon is Tanner Health System. Sole Roots Running Co., Ozier Apparel, Century 21 Novus Rettro Group, Printer’s Ale and Superior Mountain Water are also sponsors of the race.
