Women to enjoy a virtual ‘Girls Night Out’ that’s good for their hearts
Motivational humorist, standup comedian and author, Kay Frances, MBA, has shared her message to “lighten up, stress less and take care of ourselves” in the U.S. and Canada for more than 30 years. Now she is bringing her unique brand of healthy humor to Tanner’s “Red for a Reason” women’s heart health event on Feb. 24.
Frances, who holds a master’s in business administration and a bachelor’s in health and education, is the author of “The Funny Thing About Stress; A Seriously Humorous Guide to a Happier Life.”
During Tanner’s online “Red for a Reason” event — a virtual “Girls Night Out” that’s good for your heart health — she will combine her years of standup comedy, education and passion for health into a seriously funny, clean, relatable message for women about reducing stress for a healthier heart.
When it comes to humor, Frances is the “real deal,” having performed as a professional standup comedian for many years and appearing on numerous national television and radio programs, including Lifetime’s “Girls Night Out” and NBC’s “America’s Funniest People.” She also lived and performed in New York City where she appeared at the nation’s top comedy clubs, including “The Improvisation” and “Catch a Rising Star.”
Attendees of Tanner’s “Red for a Reason” also will learn more about heart disease and the symptoms of a heart attack in women from Shazib Khawaja, MD, an interventional cardiologist with Tanner Heart & Vascular Specialists and medical operations leader for Tanner Heart Care.
Heart disease — the leading cause of death among American women — accounts for one in every three women’s deaths, according to the American Heart Association. Every minute, another American woman loses her life to heart disease.
Board-certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, Dr. Khawaja earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama and completed a residency in internal medicine at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical School and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Khawaja also received advanced training in peripheral vascular interventions at the Arizona Heart Institute.
Learn more and register to attend the online event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, at tanner.org/RedForAReason. Each registrant will receive a Zoom link for the event in their registration confirmation email.
