The Carrollton Artist Guild’s juried exhibition, Color Story, opens at the Center for the Arts, February 24.
The show, which explores the role of color as a driving force in the visual arts, will be on display in the center’s Roush Gallery through March 24.
“We had a lot of really fun pieces submitted for this exhibit,” said Visual Arts Coordinator Marcella Kuykendall. “The guild members really got into the spirit of the theme and visitors will love exploring the different color palettes each artist chose.”
With Color Story, the Artist Guild challenges its members to explore how their medium can best utilize color to create, express and share stories.
A public reception will open the show, February 24, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Awards for the show will be presented at 5:45 p.m.
The center will also host Color Explosion, the latest in its Gallery Play series of workshops, on March 5. Inspired by the Color Story exhibition, this free event for ages 5 – 7 explores abstract painting to unlock the power of color.
