The Community Foundation of West Georgia has introduced the OnBoard program with a goal to bring more opportunities for people to get involved in the community and strengthen the capacity of local nonprofit boards.
“OnBoard offers community volunteers the opportunity to learn the basic skills required to serve on a nonprofit board,” explained Kim Jones, president of the Community Foundation. “Participants will be given tools and resources to be highly effective members of nonprofit boards.
“If anyone is interested in working more with our local nonprofit organizations, OnBoard is a great place to start. Participants will learn the questions to ask before agreeing to serve on a board to determine if it a good fit for them,” she said.
Participants will attend one-hour meetings once a month for three months where they will learn the major duties and responsibilities for board members and boards.
Limited space is available for each session. Sign up before March 18 at the Community Foundation website at cfwg.net/about-onboard/.
