Five individual Carroll County student athletes and Temple High School have been recognized as West Georgia regional winners by Positive Athlete Georgia.
Elizabeth Eason from Bowdon High School won for Cheer & Gymnastics. Caleb Griffis from Central High School won for Baseball. Maggi Gibson from Mount Zion High School won for Girls Tennis. Emily Higdon from Temple High School won for Girls Soccer. Addison Orr from Villa Rica High School won for Softball.
Temple High School was named Most Positive School in West Georgia.
“The regional recognition by Positive Athlete Georgia is a powerful indication that our schools are not only competing at the highest levels, but doing it with a high level of sportsmanship and positivity that is recognized across West Georgia,” Superintendent Scott Cowart said.
Across the region, Carroll County Schools has more students recognized than any other system.
“Personally, I am so glad that a student athlete from each of our Carroll County high schools was recognized,” Cowart said. “It tells me that our vision to positively change lives has taken hold and is making a difference across our system.”
The Positive Athlete organization celebrates young athletes who have overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their schools and communities in a significant way, or just have an infectious positive attitude that makes everyone around them a better person.
