The Carrollton Fire Department will host a one-day “Sound the Alarm” smoke alarm giveaway and installation drive, April 29, beginning at 10 am. The event is sponsored by the American Red Cross.
In a door-to-door campaign, teams of volunteers and CFD personnel will install between 200 and 500 free smoke alarms in an area north and west of the North Park/Maple Street intersection including Lovvorn Road and South, Alabama and Martin Luther King streets.The event does not require any registration or purchase. The alarms have a ten-year battery life.
The CFD has a limited supply of alarms available year round they will install for residents of all areas of the city who need one.
