Delmus ”Del”  Eugene Williams, 76, passed away on November 6, 2023, from liposarcoma, a cancer linked to Agent Orange.  Delmus was born on January 7, 1947. He is the son of the late Eugene and Iris Williams. Throughout his life, he left an indelible mark on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Delmus Eugene Williams touched the lives of countless individuals throughout his life’s journey. His dedication to his work as a university library administrator and his active involvement in the community will be remembered fondly.

Delmus was involved in various community organizations. One notable role he held was as a member of Fairfield Kiwanis, where he eventually became president. He took great pride in serving his community and making a positive impact on the lives of those around him. He served four years in the U.S. Army as an armored cavalry officer, including a tour in Vietnam.

Delmus served as an elder at Carrollton Presbyterian and he sang in the choir. He was a loyal Democrat and was an active member of the Carroll County Democratic Committee.

In addition to his professional achievements, Delmus also had a passion for traveling and visiting the world. Being able to travel was one of his greatest joys, and he was usually planning a trip. One of his favorite adventures was teaching in Lithuania as a Fulbright fellow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Daryl Chambers.

Delmus will be deeply missed by his surviving family members and friends who shared countless moments with him throughout the years. He leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Mae Robinson Williams; his beloved son and daughter-in-law, David and Tracy Williams of Marietta, Georgia; granddaughter Rosa Williams; sister, Dianne King, and brother-in-law, Walter King of Centennial, Colorado; his brother-in-law, Tom Chambers of Suffolk, Virginia; and niece and nephews Tracy (George) Ramsey, Tom King, William (Dustin) Chambers, Sarah (Miles) Sledge, Monte (Teresa)  Robinson,  and Melissa (Michael) Link;. He also leaves behind several great nieces and great nephews, cousins and many great friends.

The family will have a celebration of life in the spring.
