Albert Talmadge “Butch” Broome Jr., 75, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024. He was born on December 11, 1948, in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of the late Albert Talmadge Broome Sr. and Mary Friddell Broome.
Butch was a well-known member of the community who had a rich and fulfilling life. He attended Mt. Zion High School and worked as a truck driver for Distron Distribution until his retirement in 1988, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. In his free time, Butch had a passion for Alabama football and was a devoted fan of the team. He also enjoyed working on cars, riding horses, boating, and fishing, and was always eager to share his knowledge and expertise with others.
Butch was not only a passionate individual, but he was also deeply involved in the community. He served as the president of the Huelett Ball Association, a group of local volunteers responsible for refurbishing the ballfields in the Huelett community. Through his hard work and dedication, Butch helped to create a safe and enjoyable place for children and families to gather and play.
Despite his many accomplishments, Butch was known for his modesty and kindness. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need and was deeply respected by all who knew him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his sister, France Dean, and honorary daughter, Delaine Fowler.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Jane Parker Broome; daughters & sons-in-law, Tabatha & Jeff McDonald and Beth & Bill Orbeck; son & daughter-in-law, Tal & Tara Broome; grandchildren, Alison & Jason Beaver, Jacob & Lauren Orbeck, Natalie Orbeck & Thatcher Phillips, Lindsey Orbeck, Talmadge Broome, Navaeh Broome, and Chastity Broome; great-grandchildren, Eli Orbeck, Sadie Orbeck, Elizabeth Beaver, Koda Broome, Ezra Broome, Ace Broome, and Weston Broome; sister, Madge Dye; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate Butch’s life of Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 5:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 PM until the hour of service.
