Dolores Nora Smith, affectionately known as Nanny, age 90, of Roopville, Georgia,
passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024.
Dolores was born on October 12, 1933, in Brooklyn, New York. A dedicated
homemaker, she was lovingly known as “Nanny” to her many grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment
spent with her family, creating a legacy of love and warmth that will endure
through generations.
She is survived by her beloved children, Randy Smith, Sandra Ingram, and Donald
Smith (Donna); cherished grandchildren, Dolores (Danny), Donald, Dennis
(Krystal), Daniel (Katie), Allison (David), Justin, Christine, and Amanda; adored
great-grandchildren, Dann, Devin, Mya, Aubrey, Luke, Dylan, Drew (Zoey), Riley,
Owen, Amelia, Ian, Will, Adam, Josh, Kimberly, Haley, Olivia, Benjamin, Dylan, and
Mason; treasured great-great-grandchildren, Zoey, Sage, and Waylon; her dear
brother Barry Newman and his wife Carol Newman; and other special family
members Marla, Aniya, Brenda, Briana, Alexis, Denaris, Grayson, Laura, Maria,
Katie, Emily, Katrina and countless other family and friends.
Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald “Don” Smith, her
parents Grace and George Newman, and her siblings, Sherry, Grace, Ronnie,
George, and Rosalyn.
A funeral service to celebrate Dolores’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29,
2024, at 11 AM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home. The family will receive
friends from 10 AM until the service hour.
Interment will follow in the Carrollton City Cemetery, with her grandsons and
great-grandsons, Luke, Drew, Daniel, Dann, Donald, Dylan, and Devin, serving as
pallbearers.
