Edward T. Janis, age 90, of Bremen, passed away on September 18, 2024, at a local healthcare facility. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on February 2, 1934, the son of the late Mary K. Zogorski Janis and Edward J. Janis. He was a retired Federal Police Officer, and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was well known in Youngstown as the leader of his bands.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Moore; a son, Edward Janis; a brother, Richie Janis; sisters, Virginia Bohelien and Mary Byers; and a grandchild, Ray Rosamonda.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Oliver Janis; children, Paula Layton of Florida and Lynetta Hill (Clifford) of Alabama; three sisters, Georgeann Foltz of Ohio, Barbara Borrows of Ohio, and Gloria Sanchez of Florida; a brother, George Janis of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Elayne Lowe (Geoffrey); six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Services will be conducted on Monday, September 23, 2024, at 10:00 am from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Joseph Wagner officiating. Josiah Rice, Matthew Weaver, Richard Ferber, Chad Miller, Ryan Miller, and Harold Parker will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Cemetery.
