Linda Stapler Merrell, age 80, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024. She was born on June 17, 1944, in Carrollton, Georgia to the late VJ Stapler and Annie Ruth Skinner Stapler.

A devout Christian, Linda held her faith close to her heart. She loved her church and her fellow brothers and sisters at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  Linda enjoyed music, especially bluegrass gospel music. She and Billy attended many singings while they were both able. At these singings, Billy would play his mandolin and she played the stand-up bass. Those memories will last a lifetime and held in the hearts of her family and friends.  Above all, she was a loving wife, nurturing mother, and doting grandmother, always putting her family first and cherishing the moments spent with them. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her parents, she was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Billy Merrell; her son, Michael Merrell; great-grandson, Harrison Merrell; daughter-in-law, Tessy Merrell; and nephew, Jason Stapler.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Daniel Lambert, son and daughter-in-law, Billy Wayne and Sandy Merrell, son, Van Merrell, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Merrell; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Genice Stapler; grandchildren, Ashley and Jamie Bishop, Anthony and Taylor Merrell, Austin and Cassidy Lambert, Alex and Leah Merrell, Samantha and Matt Taylor, Mason Merrell, Alisa Merrell, Kristen Merrell, Levi Merrell, and Jayde and Jared English; great-grandchildren, Reagan Bishop, Carter Bishop, Grant Bishop, Hughston Merrell, Holt Merrell, Holden Lambert, Kaydence Merrell, Eason Merrell, Eleanor Taylor, Ellis English and Erris English; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held to honor and celebrate Mrs. Linda’s life on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, with Pastor Murphy Hagen officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
