Millard Cecil Morris “Smokey”, 81, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025. He was born on June 20, 1943, the son of the late Thomas Leon Morris and the late Gladys Burdette Morris.
Cecil’s family was the center of his life. His love for them was evident in everything he did. Cecil had a routine that brought him joy and that was reporting to his “office” daily. This special place allowed him to spend quality time with friends by a wood-burning stove, where stories were shared and memories were created. He was a man of many interests. Cecil was a huge fan of NASCAR, wrestling, and Alabama football. He enjoyed cutting grass and working in his garden, where he grew the best tomatoes to share with everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Foster.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Peggy Morris; daughter, Sherry Morris; grandchildren, Mandy (Adam) Downs; great-grandchildren, Sawyer (fiancé Kaleigh) Downs, and Rhett Downs; several nieces and nephews.
