Jessey Preston “JP” Blair, 91, of Carrollton, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He was born in Carroll County on July 21, 1933, to the late Preston Paul Blair and Thelma Irene Traylor Blair, who instilled in him the values of hard work and integrity.

JP honorably served in the United States Army, where he developed a strong sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life. After returning from service, he dedicated 29 years of his career to cabinet making, honing his skills at Del-Mar Cabinets. There, he earned a reputation for his meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, creating beautiful custom pieces cherished by many. He also owned and operated Blair’s Appliance Repair following his retirement.

In addition to his professional work, JP was a talented woodworker who found joy in crafting intricate projects from wood. He often spent weekends in his workshop. His mechanical inclination also extended to small engines, and he delighted in repairing and restoring them.

In his leisure time, JP was an avid fan of classic television, particularly enjoying episodes of “Gunsmoke,” which provided him with a sense of nostalgia and served as a delightful escape. His faith played a significant role in his life; he was a longstanding and devoted member of Consolation Baptist Church, where he formed meaningful relationships with fellow congregants and contributed to the community.

As a loving father and grandfather, JP cherished moments with his family, creating lasting memories through shared experiences and stories. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and unwavering dedication to family.

In addition to his parents, JP was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Melba Faye Chandler Blair; son, Robert “Chunk” Blair; sister, Lillie Maude Williams; and brother, Carl Blair.

He is survived by his loving family which includes his children and their spouses, Michael Preston and Susie Blair, Deborah Faye and Anthony Moran, and Greg and Michelle Blair, and his sister, Shirley Blair. His legacy also includes his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Cody and Ashley Blair, Joni Moran, Robert Reynolds, Chad Moran, Josh Moran, Rodney and Tamara Moran, Curtis and Jessica Moran, Matt and Alexandra Blair, 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and four great-great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
