Don Price, a beloved member of the Carrollton, Georgia community, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Born on September 2, 1929, he was the cherished son of the late Winston Harvey Price and Merle Sims Price.
Don was a proud graduate of Carrollton High School and chose to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army on January 10, 1951. His years of service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism. On June 12, 1955, he married Helen Walker, his beloved wife. Together, they shared a remarkable 69 and a half years of marriage, marked by unwavering support, mutual respect, and a profound love for one another.
Throughout his life, Don was renowned for his active spirit and dedication to his work. He began his professional journey in bookkeeping but soon discovered his true passion for sales and customer interaction. This led him to work as a car salesman at various local dealerships until he realized his ambition of opening his own enterprise, Don Price Auto Sales. Following his retirement from the dealership, Don found fulfillment and joy in his roles at West Georgia National Bank, where he spent 20 years, and later at Burson’s Feed and Seed. He enjoyed meeting new faces and reconnecting with old friends, continuing to work until he fully retired at the age of 87.
Outside of his professional life, Don was a devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he served for an incredible 83 years as the longest-serving member. He took on numerous roles within the church, including deacon, deacon emeritus, usher, and Sunday School teacher, reflecting his deep faith and commitment to his community. His relationship with Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through all aspects of his life.
Don had many hobbies that brought him joy, particularly fishing and gardening. He loved flowers and often brought them to friends during hospital visits, brightening their days with his thoughtful gestures. Every evening, he would return home with a fresh flower for Helen, a simple yet profound way to express his love and devotion.
Don leaves behind a loving and supportive family, including his wife, Helen Walker Price; his daughter, Padgey Ramsey; and his son, Phillip Price. He was a proud grandfather to Christopher & Brittany Ramsey and Chad & Bailey Ramsey and a cherished great-grandfather to Kyan, Addy, and Layni. His extended family includes sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Sandra Worley, Judy & Willard Powers, and Roland Braswell, along with eight nieces and fifteen nephews who will remember him fondly.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Braswell.
