Christmas In Carrollton returns to downtown

Carrollton’s annual Christmas parade and festivities will once again bring Santa Claus, football, music and kids’ activities to downtown, December 6.

The day downtown will start with TubaChristmas at 2pm. Tuba players from throughout the area perform traditional Christmas carols at the Amp.

Alabama and Georgia face off at 4pm when the SEC championship game kicks off on the Amp’s big screen.

Also at 4pm, kids activities will be set up on Adamson Square under the giant snowflake. Kids can craft and create while they wait for the parade to begin. Enjoy hot chocolate from the Carrollton Police trailer. Children can also send their Christmas wish list directly to the North Pole by dropping it into Santa’s mailbox.

Meanwhile, across town at East Carrollton Park,  people can skate, snack and explore the gift vendors, local artists and creators at the Merry Market beside the Carrollton On Ice skating rink, from 10am – 3pm.

The evening’s main event, the city’s annual Christmas parade, begins at 5:30pm. This year’s parade will feature a 12 Days of Christmas theme. The parade will start on Bradley Street near Minden Avenue and travel north through Adamson Square. It will continue down Rome Street and conclude at the intersection with Spring Street.

The parade’s sponsors – Cricket Wireless, Hero Roofing, J & D’s Events, Midway Church – Kids and The Foundry – will distribute candy and other fun giveaways at cheer stations along Bradley Street and on the square. No candy or other items will be thrown from the parade floats.

The Optimist Club of Carrollton will be the parade’s grand marshals again this year and, as always, Santa Claus will be the parade’s guest of honor.
