Nationally-known comedienne Anita Renfro will perform, “A Purse Driven Life,” in Carrollton on August 16.  The show is a fundraising event for the Community Foundation of West Georgia’s Power of the Purse.

Renfroe is a Christian comedian from Atlanta, the wife of a former Baptist pastor and the mother of three children.  She became famous after her comic rendition of everything that a mother would typically say to her children in the course of a day, set to “The William Tell Overture” and entitled “Momisms,” was posted on YouTube.

She has been featured as a comedy correspondent for Good Morning America, performed at The Grand Ole Opry, and has appeared on Dr. Phil, Sirius XM’s Oprah and Friends, CBS’s The Early Show, Fox News Channel’s Fox and Friends, Inside Edition and many more.

The show will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center at 775 Old Newnan Road in Carrollton.  Tickets range from $25 to $50 and are being sold through the Townsend Center online at townsendcenter.org, by phone at 678-839-4722 or in person at the Townsend Center during office hours (Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).  For an additional $25, ticket holders may participate in a VIP reception with Renfroe before the show.

Not only does the price of the ticket provide a fun show, it also means that Power of the Purse, a women’s giving circle, can continue to issue grants each year in support of women and children’s initiatives in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties.  More than $75,000 has been granted since 2009.
