Aubrey Ludwell Nixon, age 81 of Carrollton, passed away June 18, 2020 and his beloved wife of 60 years, Sara Elizabeth Nixon, age 79 of Carrollton, passed away on June 20, 2020.

Mr. Nixon was born March 9, 1939 in Carroll County, Georgia, son of the late Aubrey L. Nixon, Sr and the late Winnie Leila McLeod Nixon. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was an avid fisherman. Sara was born October 1, 1940 in Carroll County, Georgia, daughter of the late Lewis A. Crews and the late Bernice Corene Denney Crews. She was very creative, extremely talented, and loved to dance, especially line dancing.

They both graduated from Mt. Zion High school in 1958 and were members of Harmony Baptist Church.

They were both preceded in death by their parents.

They are survived by their children, Melissa and Tommy Robinson of Mt. Zion, Michael and Ginger Nixon of Carrollton, and Amy and Tony Moore of Mt. Zion; A.L.’s sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Ed Walker of Roopville; Sara’s sister, Linda Baxter of Mt. Zion; grandchildren, Tiffany Kilgore, Blake Bumgardner, Jacob Bumgardner, Ben Nixon, Katy Nixon, Will Nixon, Tonya Cochran, Andy Robinson, and Trenton Moore; and four great grandchildren, Aubree Kilgore, Caitlyn Deal, Elijah Robinson, and Nolan Robinson; niece, Lisa Puckett; and nephew, Terry Walker.

Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 1:00 PM from Harmony Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Puckett and Rev. Steve Swafford officiating.

Their bodies will be placed in the church at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow in Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery and Blake Bumgardner, Jacob Bumgardner, Trenton Moore, Will Nixon, Ben Nixon and Andy Robinson will be serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, we encourage everyone to make the best decisions to remain safe.
