Three upcoming events at the Center for the Arts will bring lovers of literature together to share their passion for the written word.
“Our Carrollton Writers Guild partners are champions of the literary arts,” said Carrollton Arts Superintendent Tim Chapman. “We are proud to help them welcome these events to the arts center.”
An Evening of Prose, Conversations With the Muse
March 24 / 6pm
The Carrollton Writers Guild and the Carroll County Community Theatre present an original play created by local authors. The evening includes a short reception followed by the one-hour stage presentation. Admission is free.
Carrollton BookFest
March 25 / 9am
The guild’s one-day event will provide educational and networking opportunities for writers and readers, promoting literature in west Georgia. BookFest will feature authors from the guild, Hometown Novel Writers Association, Atlanta Writers Club and Wild Women Who Write. There will be presentations and panel discussions. The event’s keynote speaker is award-winning regional author, Bren McClain.
Local Voices: An Evening of Poetry
April 7 / 6pm
Just Poetry, a special interest group of the Carrollton Writers Guild, celebrates National Poetry Month with the eighth annual An Evening of Poetry. Eight local poets will read their poetry. This event is for members of the guild, their guests and the community at large. The evening will include a wine and cheese reception from.6-6:30pm. Admission is free.
“Poets in the group have published 18 volumes of poetry and earned 13 nominations for the Georgia Author of the Year Award in Poetry,” said guild member Eleanor Hoomes.
