In what is being promoted by organizers as “the perfect Valentine’s date,” The Carroll Symphony Orchestra will present a concert of masterworks – including Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony – February 9 at the Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center.

In addition to the Beethoven symphony, the CSO will present three winning compositions from the2023 statewide CSO Young Composer Competition.

“I am really excited about the music we are playing in February,” said the CSO’s conductor, Terry Lowry. “The music is both fun and familiar and will be a hit with audiences young and old.”

The show will include Rossini’s William Tell Overture (known to folks of a certain age as the Lone Ranger theme) and composer Jean Sibelius’ Seventh Symphony. The orchestra will also perform music by state-wide CSO Young Composer Competition-winning students Konsih Pisoh  (Whitesburg Elementary School), Ada Key (Bremen Middle School) and Drew Williams (Carrollton Middle School). The concert will close with Beethoven’s 6th Symphony, which, Lowry says, invokes the sound of a day spent hiking through nature.

Tickets for the performance are $20 for adults, $10 for youth and are on sale at the Carrollton Center for the Arts’ box office or online at carrolltonarts.com.
