Since 2007, Southwire’s 12 for Life program has been providing opportunity, education and employment for at-risk youth. You’ll have the opportunity to speak with a student and his/her family about the impact of the 12 for Life program as well as hear from representatives with the school system and Southwire. Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jerious Norwood will deliver this year’s commencement address.

Why: The 12 for Life program combines traditional classroom instruction with jobs inside a modified Southwire manufacturing environment. Students earn wages for their work and, most importantly, learn skills they will need after graduation. The state of Georgia and several other organizations have adopted 12 for Life as a model for increasing graduation rates.
