The Carroll County Community Theatre’s production of Harvey brings the story of Elwood P. Dowd and his friend — a six-foot, invisible rabbit –  to the Carrollton Center for the Arts, September 20 – 22.

“If you’re looking for an enjoyable family-friendly evening out, spend a couple hours with Elwood P. Dowd and his friend, Harvey the pooka,” said the show’s director, Duane Sohl. “I recommend it to all my friends who have friends – even the invisible ones.”

Playwright Mary Chase’s 1944 play earned her the Pulitzer Prize. It has been adapted for film and television several times, most notably in the beloved 1950 film starring James Stewart. The plot centers around eccentric but amiable Elwood P. Dowd, who claims to have an unseen friend Harvey, whom Elwood describes as a six foot, three-and-one-half inch tall rabbit. A comedy of errors ensues when Elwood’s social-climbing sister tries to have him committed to a sanitarium.

This production is sponsored by Eleanor Hoomes.
