Albert Henley Jr. passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in Douglasville, Georgia. He was a loving father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, sibling, uncle, and friend.

He was born August 5, 1934, in Douglasville, Georgia to the late Albert Little Henley, Sr and Elizabeth Ethel McCleskey. He joined the Army Reserves in 1954 and served 16 months in Korea; he was honorably discharged on April 2, 1962. He said that his time in Korea, which was very cold, was one of the best times in his life. He made many friends in the service and experienced the people and culture there. After his military service, he began working at Fisher Body, where he remained for several years before beginning employment with Delta Airlines as a freight handler. He received letters of commendation for his many years of exemplary service there.

In retirement, he enjoyed gardening on a large scale, fishing, spending time with family, and good food! He also enjoyed traveling to see friends and family and going to bluegrass festivals. He was an avid animal lover and, at one time, owned two Emus, along with numerous chickens, rabbits, cats, and dogs. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth Robinson Henley; his siblings, Mack Edward Henley Sr. and Mary Underwood; and stepsons, Russell Chandler Mozley and David Carroll Robinson.

Survivors include his children, Barbara Robinson Mozley and Mary Beth Henley; grandchildren Dustin Mozley (Jennifer), Ashlynn Mozley, Jordan Gilbert, Beth Robinson Nelson (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Maura Mozley, Joe Mozley, and Oliver Gilbert-Roberts; and many extended family members and friends.

The family wishes that he be remembered most as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived his life according to his Christian faith, with compassion and concern for others.

A funeral service will be held to honor and remember Mr. Albert’s life on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the funeral hour.
