Frances Lyons Stewart, a cherished soul and beacon of warmth, passed away peacefully at her home on February 5, 2025, at the age of 96. She was born on October 18, 1928, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Mr. Frank W. Lyons and the late Mrs. Irene P. Speyer Lyons.

Frances lived a life filled with love and generosity. Her vibrant personality shone even brighter when she took on a pivotal role with the Shriners Circus, where she served as the head teller. 

Frances’s compassion knew no bounds. She dedicated countless hours to sewing blankets and pillows for children receiving care at Shriners hospitals, illustrating her selfless nature and her profound belief in the goodness of helping others. 

Her creativity blossomed in her hobbies as well; sewing was not just a skill for Frances, but a passion. A talented seamstress, she found immense joy in crafting treasures filled with love. Friends often fondly recall the warmth of her handmade creations, a tangible reminder of her caring spirit.

A devoted member of her church community, Frances’s faith in God was the foundation of her life. Her love for God guided her actions, instilling in her a sense of purpose and a deep commitment to uplift those around her. She was a loving friend who fostered connections that enriched the lives of her congregation and became a source of support and comfort to those in need.

In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. David Wallace Stewart; son, Frank Stewart; brothers, Jack Lyons, Ed Lyons and George Lyons.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Vickie Stewart, Lee and Nancy Stewart, and Joyce Stewart; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jack Miriable; 8 grandchildren, Phillip and Michelle Stewart, Jennifer Stewart, Jessica and Kyle Richardson, April Stewart, Christina Griggs, Daniel and Reem Robinson, Stephanie Robinson; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as 1 great-great grandchild making 5 generations.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Douglasville Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Josh Buice officiating. Mrs. Frances will be laid to rest at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta following the service.
