Norman Wayne Banks, age 78, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away, Friday, January 5, 2018 on his 55th wedding anniversary at his home surrounded by his family.

Norman was born in Atlanta, Georgia on June 12, 1939, the son of the late Frank Banks and Mary Ruth Rogers Banks. He graduated from Southwest High School where he was the starting Quarterback, City of Atlanta baseball MVP and he drew interest from the MLB in 1958. Mr. Banks was retired owner and operator of Banks Oil Company.

He loved his community and was very involved having served on the Board of Directors at Tanner Hospital, CB&T, University of West Georgia and West Georgia Regional Airport. Mr. Banks is in the Carrollton High School Hall of Fame as well as the Central High School Hall of Fame, member of the Masonic Lodge of East Point, Carrollton First United Methodist Church and former member of the Rotary Club. He loved his grandchildren, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, airplanes and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Banks; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Mindy Banks of Carrollton; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Jeff Teems of Bremen; grandchildren, Chayson, Peyton, Cameron, Anna Claire Teems, Connor Norman and Christian Banks, sister-in-laws, Harriett Banks, Sonya Quinn; brother-in-law, Chris Call and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gayle Call and brother, Steve Banks.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Sunday, January 7 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Carrollton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Patton, Rev. Ken Stephens and Dr. Dean Milford officiating.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Brittain, Larry Baskin, Ken Quinn, Will Quinn, Terry Norton, Chris Call and Bill Bailey. The Agape Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
