Hansel “Tony” Rooks, age 76 of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton. He was born December 27, 1941 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Aubry Cecil Rooks and the late Grace Patterson Rooks Muse.
Before retirement, he was the owner-operator of West Georgia Muffler in Carrollton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Denise Dennis and a sister, Betty Sue Huckeba.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Smith Rooks of Douglasville; daughter, Sherry Sprayberry of Carrollton; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda & Garry Rigsby of College Park and Cathy Thomas of Metter, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Barry & Mary Ann Rooks of Jasper, Georgia; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 3:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Steve Swafford and Mr. Sammy Clark officiating.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Chris McOueen, Rickey Smith, Mike Wallace, Josh Dukes, Scott Rigsby, Timothy Adams, Breanna Rhodes, Ashley Adams, and Garry Rigsby. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the hour of service.
