A healthy pregnancy is essential to a healthy delivery, and a specialist at Tanner hopes to provide insight on the many factors that can impact a woman’s reproductive health both before conception and during pregnancy.
Kaysi Benefield, DO, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with Tanner Healthcare for Women and part of the patient care team with Tanner Women’s Care, will lead a special, free Advancing Your Health Education Series discussion, “Planning and Living a Healthy Pregnancy,” at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, in Classrooms A and B of the Education and Conference Center at Tanner Medical Center/Villa Rica.
Dr. Benefield’s discussion will include topics concerning women’s reproductive health, pre-conception health and wellness — including diet, nutrition and medications for expecting mothers, as well as warning symptoms of illness — before, during and following pregnancy.
Women will benefit from the insight and perspective of a certified women’s health specialist, who can answer questions and cut through myths and misconceptions concerning a healthy pregnancy. The reproductive system is one of the most complex, integral systems in a woman’s body, and maintaining good reproductive health is important for every woman regardless if she’s expecting to conceive or not.
Regardless if a woman is considering pregnancy or expecting her first — or her fourth — child, Dr. Benefield will cover the steps she can take to help ensure a woman’s reproductive system is healthy before and during pregnancy and after the baby is born.
Women interested in attending can register themselves and a guest online at www.tanner.org/pregnancy or by calling 770.214.CARE (2273). Registration is required and seating is limited. The Education and Conference Center is located on the third floor of the VillaWest medical office building adjacent to the hospital. Refreshments will be served.
The discussion is part of Tanner’s Advancing Your Health Education Series, providing residents with access to free health information from the region’s leading health experts and covering a wide range of topics, including heart disease, orthopedics, digestive health and more. Other upcoming opportunities can be found in the Classes and Events calendar at www.tanner.org/calendar.
