James “Chunk” William Waters, age 73 of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018.
Chunk was born in Carrollton, Georgia on July 8, 1944 the son of the late Alton Clyde Waters and Maurette Duncan Waters. He was the retired owner of the J. W. Waters Grading. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and attended Pleasant View Baptist Church. He was a member of the Carrollton Booster Club and an avid Carrollton Trojans fan,
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Thornton Waters of 51 years; son and daughter-in-law, James W. Waters II (Amy) of Carrollton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Leigh Ann Hunter (Robby) of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Leah Ayers, Brooke Ayers, Blake Hunter, Brett Hunter, Cason Hunter, and Caleb Hunter all of Douglasville, GA; sisters, Joan Newell, Judy Adams, and Joyce Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby Thornton (Carole), sisters-in-law, Johnnie Sue Thornton and sister-in-law, Vurla Thornton, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his nephew, Dennis Terrell.
The family will received friends at Almon Funeral Home on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Sutton officiating.
Pallbearers will be Joe Mote, Donnie Newell, Avery McWhorter, Winton Akers, Charlie Simpkins, and John Montgomery.
Interment will be in the Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.
