John Lee Truitt, age 67 of Carrollton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Tanner Medical Center. He was born April 07, 1951 in Villa Rica, Georgia, son of the late Marvin James Truitt and Orene Adams Truitt.
He was a Carrollton High School graduate and after many years of service with Carroll EMC working as a lineman, he retired in 2006. He was a faithful member of Midway Macedonia Church in Villa Rica, was a member of Romeo’s Motorcycle Group; and was an avid deer hunter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by eleven siblings, Junior Truitt, Charles Truitt, Coy Truitt, Ralph Truitt, Lillian Shepard, Hazel Bivins, Helen Dobbs, Elizabeth Bearden, Betty Phillips, and infants, William Truitt and Mary Truitt. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Johnnie Parmer Truitt of Carrollton; his children, Christy and Chuck Powell of Carrollton, Lyndsay and Chad Rein of Newnan, and Jason and Jaime Truitt of Bowdon; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Homer Wilburn of Carrollton; brother, Roy Truitt of Carrollton; sister, Ruth Hanson of Carrollton; six grandchildren, Charity Bailey, Austin Frazier, Hannah Powell, Brock Rein, Braxton Rein, and Brooklyn Rein; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Midway Macedonia Church with Pastor Todd Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens with Masonic burial rites. The following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Michael Wilburn, Greg Hendrix, Grady Reynolds, Joe Drupeski, Jason Colquitt, Ken Beckett, Ed Federer, Carl Parmer, Richard Broome, Matt Sheffield, and Ryan Kessler. Honorary pallbearers will be Romeo’s Motorcycle Group.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 17, 2018 at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, his family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org.
