Richard N. Hendrix, age 77 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday morning, May 11, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born December 8, 1941 in Carroll County, Georgia, the son of the late Isaac Newton Hendrix and the late Margaret Cole Hendrix. 

A graduate of Villa Rica High School, he attended college in Oklahoma, and retired from BellSouth in 1991, with twenty-five years of service.  Later in life, he was a poultry farmer.  He was also a member of the BellSouth Pioneers and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was ordained as a Deacon in 1975 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for many years, and was presently a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton, where he also served a Deacon. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, J. G. and Mary McCalmon; and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Duncan. 

He is survived by his loving wife of  fifty-one years, Mrs. Nancy McCalmon Hendrix of Carrollton, Georgia; sons and daughter-in-law: Scott and Ashley Hendrix and Greg Hendrix, all of Carrollton, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law: Nancy Duncan of Kennesaw, Georgia, Janice and Mike Cooke of Carrollton, Georgia, and Vicki and Roger Brock of Hartselle, Alabama; sister-in-law, Carolyn Hammock of Carrollton, Georgia; and two grandchildren:  Preston Hendrix and Tucker Hendrix, both of Carrollton, Georgia. 

Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2:00 PM from Tabernacle Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Davis and Rev. Larry Insko officiating.  Eulogies will be rendered by Mrs. Ashley Hendrix and Mrs. Scotty Jennings.  Mr. Hendrix will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM.  Music will be rendered under the direction of Jack Gant and Carol Jackson. 

The following nephews will serve as pallbearers:  Dan Duncan, Steve Duncan, Jeff Cooke, Kenneth Cooke, Luke Cooner, Jeremy Gilliland, and David Smith.  

Seated as honorary pallbearers will be: Mr. and Mrs. Terry Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mangum, Mr.and Mrs. Bobby Holcombe, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Shadinger, Mr. and Mrs. Danny O’Neal, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Smith, Mr. and Mrs. David Hildebrand, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Duggins, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Arnold, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Jennings, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wallis, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Blevins, Ann Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Eddleman, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Smith, and members of the Generations Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton.  

Interment and committal service will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Post #143.

The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel on Monday, May 13, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and also from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
