Now that everyone is being encouraged to stay at home, there are more opportunities for you to take classes online.

Tanner Health System’s Get Healthy, Live Well is offering a virtual version of its free Diabetes 101 and Carb Counting classes.

Diabetes 101 is an introduction to type 2 diabetes, discussing the risks of the disease, what causes it, how to prevent it and effective strategies in managing it.

Led by a certified diabetes educator and registered and licensed dietitian, Diabetes 101 goes beyond what you can learn in a physician’s exam room. The class provides you with the insight and understanding you need to make meaningful changes in your health.

Carb Counting is a class that empowers attendees to use their diets to control their blood sugar by finding carbs in the foods they’re eating, substituting certain foods for better options and understanding how carbs affect blood sugar and overall health.

The class is led by a licensed and registered dietitian from Tanner, who is experienced in working with people who have diabetes and can provide special insight into ways individuals can turn the tables on high blood sugar.

When it comes to improving the health of the community, education is key. Get Healthy, Live Well is offering Diabetes 101 and Carb Counting online so people can learn how to lead a healthy lifestyle while adhering to social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders.
