Rev. Larry Elmer Scott, age 77 of Whitesburg, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday morning, July 15, 2020.  He was born October 1, 1942 in Fulton County, Georgia, the son of the late Emmitt Scott and the late Mattie Irene Bowman Scott. 

He was a Minister of the Gospel, having pastored for more than twenty years, and was presently a faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Martha Arnold Scott; sister, Joan Bradford; and brothers, Gary Scott and Johnny Scott. 

Survivors include his children:  Laura & Craig Culley of Whitesburg, Marjorie Scott of Villa Rica, Melissa & Rafael Arista of Whitesburg, and Mark & Hillary Scott, also of Whitesburg; brother and sister-in-law, Perry & Wanda Scott of Jasper, Georgia, and eight grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Mars Hill Baptist Church with Deacon Darrell Horsley and Bro. Allen Guest officiating. The body will be placed in state at the church at 1:00 PM on Friday.  Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park, Georgia.  

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Riley Deaver, Cole Culley, Jeffery Thomason, Zeke Scott, Hunter Teal, and Reese Teal.  All preachers in attendance are invited to be seated as honorary pallbearers.   Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com.  Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
